Abstract

The Transnational Reflection and Development Method (TRDM) encompasses a whole range of aspects which practioners should reflect upon in order to further develop their courses on the meso, macro and micro level. These aspects have been collected during the research work in the “Re-Integration” project and have arisen to a great degree from discussions with practitioners. Especially for the meso and the micro level (that is, practioners and their institutions on the one hand, students on the other) the existing learning processes could be improved and possibly new forms should be developed. These should contain reflections about aspects which are presented in this symposium, such as the relevance of experience knowledge, the collaboration of practioners with various professional backgrounds, and also the evaluation of their competencies by the young people themselves. In addition, criteria have been developed especially for the micro level, the learning processes of the young people. Those criteria which represent their perspective in the “Learning Communities Centred on Practice” (LCPs) have been developed based on a combination of theoretical considerations and empirical research. It will be shown how these criteria fit in with the overarching idea of the TRDMs. It will be outlined which aspects on the macro level may foster or hamper learning processes according to these criteria.
