Abstract

As a comparably young but still expanding field of educational practice re-integration schemes support disadvantaged young persons in their transition from school to vocational education and training in almost every European country. Towards this aim practitioners from heterogenous professional backgrounds are supposed to collaborate. Thus different kinds of occupational practice and experiential expertise are challenged by the task to promote support for young persons on their way into the working world. Mainly three type of professionals or professional role models can be identified: trainers, teachers and social or youth workers. Only few of them have been explicitly qualified to fulfill this specific educational task, which is determined in almost all European countries by a specific mixture of technical vocational and social education. Due to these preconditions re-integration programmes can serve as an example to investigate in cross professional collaboration. Professional paradigms can be identified, strategies to overcome them by collaboration can be analysed. This presentation will build on qualitative data collected in two European research projects and in addition to this will build on preliminary results from a recently accomplished German study.
